Al’s Skate Shop - Magento to Shopify in 6 Days

Al’s Skate Shop is an established online retailer with physical stores located in Blackpool and Queensferry aimed at the B2C customer. The business also operates a number of B2B services, including commercial skate sharpening to ice rinks and travelling skate teams across the UK.

A full Magento to Shopify migrated was completed in just six days, including migrating product and customer sales information, plus we introduced new payment options, Click & Collect, and prepared the business for managing inventory in multiple locations.

Magento to Shopify Data Migration

We performed a migration of over 2,500 products for Al’s Skate Shop. Our bespoke data migration tool migrated product information data including photos, descriptions, pricing, META and product variant data in to clean, easy-to-manage data set ready for Shopify. Customer account information including email addresses, delivery addresses and order history were migrated as part of the process.

Preserving SEO Value

Ensuring that the Al’s Skate Shop rankings are preserved was a key task in a successful replatform from Magento to Shopify. For the best results we manually build, manage and continue to monitor redirects, product and page performance to ensure that the store continues to operate successfully following Google’s reindexing.

Custom Shopify Development

Replacing some native and bespoke features in Magento was a consideration for this project. As the UK distributor for Jackson Skates and Prosharp Skating Machines, we introduced a simple ‘Enquire for pricing’ feature. A range of availability banners shown on product pages keeps customers informed on estimated delivery timescales for custom made and direct from manufacturer items.
